Choosing a workflow / Testable code work

A smaller agreement
for a specific fix.

Considering an Upwork alternative? Start with how you will decide the work is done.

Squash fits a narrow kind of paid code work: a change with an executable acceptance test. Compare the acceptance process you need, rather than treating every freelance task as a bounty.

A good fit for Squash

“This input should produce that output.”

  • A reproducible bug in a public repository
  • A small regression with a deterministic test
  • A fixed scope and a budget agreed before work
  • An exact commit that can be checked in isolation

Choose a broader project workflow

“Help us decide what to build.”

  • Discovery and changing requirements
  • Subjective visual or product decisions
  • Long-term staffing and ongoing collaboration
  • Work that needs private production access

The tradeoff is a precise finish line.

A frozen test makes the acceptance rule inspectable. It also means an incomplete test is still incomplete. Spend time reviewing the contract, keep the task small and use a broader workflow for work that cannot be captured honestly in that test.

The funder pays the bounty, a 5% fee ($1 minimum) and card processing. The solver receives the full posted bounty after successful acceptance, subject to eligibility and the payment hold.

Start with one small task.

Bring a public issue and a testable definition of done.
